Job Description:
Our client, a reputable rapidly growing Vancouver-based Real Estate development company with a dynamic residential and commercial portfolio, is seeking a part ti me Legal Coun sel to join their Vancouver head office.
As the company’s ‘go-to’ Internal Legal Counsel the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of real es tate experience and a high level of proficiency in the development, review and implementation of agreements, by-laws, policies and procedures; procurement; general municipal law; administrative law and environmental law matters .
Working closely with the executive team (CEO, head of People, Shareholders and the board), the successful candidate oversee the day-to-day legal matters and be the liaison with external legal counsel, responsible for delegation and follow up, on behalf of the organization.
Aside from advising on legal matters as they pertain to the business, you will also be able to independently handle small litigation matters and oversee external litigation matters.
The ideal Candidate will:
- Have a Law degree (J.D. or LL.B) and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia.
- 5+ years of relevant real estate experience (municipal by-laws, policies and procedures with respect to development projects, procurement, admin law) gained either in a law firm or in-house environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within different departments and explain legal concepts in a relatable and concise manner
- Have the ability to stand on their own and be a self-starter.
- Have excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Enjoy working in a team-based, collegial environment on a part-time basis.
