The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Nursing Statement:
Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed through the College. A nurse is responsible for practicing in accordance with the standards of the profession, and for keeping current and competent throughout his/her nursing career (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2009).
Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- BCLS required
- BScN or equivalent preferred
- NVCI and GPA preferred
- Completion of LEAN training within the last year preferred
- Completion of a Leadership/Management course preferred
- Completion of an Addictions/Withdrawal Management course preferred
Principal Duties:
- Assist with daily operations, problem solving, staff orientation, quality coordination, resources utilization, budgetary control, safety and related duties specific to the unit.
- Act as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for all staff and students
- Participates in developing unit standards that are evidence-based, and comply with the College of Nurses’ standards and Bluewater Health’s standards
- Completes daily staff assignment according to patient needs, continuity of care and priorities of the unit
- Maintains a continuous flow of up-to-date information between physicians, patients/families, nursing staff, other health care professionals and hospital departments as well as community partners as appropriate
- Attends daily bed meetings and facilitates interdisciplinary/discharge rounds on unit
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in developing and implementing treatment and discharge plans
- Meets daily with the Program Manager to review all patient care activities, patients’ and condition/status, staff scheduling issues, any issues or concerns that affect the integrity of the Unit, patients or staff
- Collaborates with Professional Practice to identify/support educational needs of the unit
- Monitor bed assignment to accommodate needs of the patients/unit in accordance with BWH bed Management Policy
- Co-ordinates with Patient Flow Team daily
- Responsible for delivering care (i.e. assist on unit/patient assignment) when required
- Responsible for monitoring and completing RL6 Risk/Feedback files when required
- Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
