Position Summary Pharmacist Trainee, Pharmacy Services The Pharmacy trainee will support services provided by the Pharmacy Department. These include but are not limited to:
- Medication distribution and pharmacy operation activities
- Conducting best possible medication histories (BPMH)
- Projects as assigned
The Pharmacy trainee will be expected to work full-time during the summer months and at least 2 shifts per month during the academic year. During the summer months, the Pharmacy trainee will have opportunities to participate in clinical activities such as shadowing of pharmacists on nursing units and attending educational sessions. All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and others by ensuring that health and safety policies and regulations are followed.
Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate pharmacy program at an CCAPP or ACPE-accredited Canadian University
- Have just completed year 1 of the Pharmacy program
- Previous pharmacy assistant experience an asset
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Effective written and verbal communicative skills
- Attention to detail
- Computer skills
- Adaptability
- Well organized
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
What We Offer Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals. This is a Full Time Temporary position (2 Months), with the option to remain in a casual position upon the completion of the contract term. 8 hour shifts, day/evening shifts including weekends in Pharmacy Services. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
