Position: Registered Dietitian - KidFit Program

Status: Permanent Part Time

Role Level: AH 10.21 ($42.77 - $54.37)

Department: KidFit Program- Women's and Chilren's

Site: Mississauga Hospital

Hours of Work/Shifts: 2-3 days a week (1 -2 of which will include evening hours to support group/ individual Programming)

The Kid Fit program operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Our evening programming is planned for Wednesdays. This role requires participation for 2 days per week in addition to the evening programming. Please note that the days of work may change with proper notice due to the evolution of the program.

Job Description: The Dietitian in collaboration with the health care team you will provide nutritional care to children and /or youth and families by assessing nutritional status and identifying, modifying, developing and using tools to assess children enrolled in the KidFit Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and provide nutrition education sessions for children and their families.
  • Responsible for the provision and follow up care of nutritional therapy to overweight and obese patients and their families.
  • Act as a resource to children and/or youth and families, other health care professionals and referral centers on nutrition education.
  • Support research and innovation within the program around evidence based practice on obesity management.
  • Day and evening work to support community based group activities.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition.
  • Registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada.
  • Certified Nutrition Support Dietician would be an asset.
  • Current Food Handler Certification or within one month of hire required
  • Experience with counseling on obesity or involvement in a similar program would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in pediatric nutrition is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the health care team .
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and critical thinking
  • Research skills would be an asset.
  • Attention to detail and efficient time management are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Must be able to work the two evening programs a week.
  • Must have access to a vehicle due to community travel.
  • Previous experience facilitating hands-on cooking classes or food demonstrations an asset.
