What We Are Looking For Field Service Technician, Electrical – Ontario, Canada A Field Service Electrician is responsible for providing repair and installation services on Heidelberg equipment located at the customer’s business. The tech is required to have a solid understanding of electrical systems and components, as well as a fundamental understanding of the tools and processes required to complete system maintenance and repair activities.
Field Service Technicians are responsible for delivering high quality service and customer satisfaction, as well as working well with the team and providing support/coverage as per business needs.
While the technical aptitude of our technicians is vital, customer service is the cornerstone of our business. As a Heidelberg technician, you will be expected to deliver personalized, consistent, proactive, and competent support to our customers.
Primary Duties Are As Follows
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits/ electronic problems on Heidelberg Printing Presses, Color Measurement Systems, basic computer networks and Accessories/Peripheral systems, includes hardware and software
- Escalate verbally and via email difficult to solve problems to the technical support group in a timely manner.
- Work with the installation team to install and commission new equipment
- Use product knowledge to communicate clearly, verbally and written, both internally and externally
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner (i.e., expenses, time sheets, escalation reports, online training courses, car maintenance.)
- Maintain customer satisfaction by troubleshooting, repair and if necessary, escalation of ongoing technical issues in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Electrical Technician/Technologist diploma
- Training in Industrial Controls
- Minimum six years machine automation experience, strong P.L.C. background and familiarity with PCD Hardware, Networks and Software Programming. Experience with printing equipment an asset and preferred.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- A clear Drivers Licence
Required Skills Required
- Must have ability to understand electrical circuitry, concepts and read wiring diagrams
- Must have ability to interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, and printed instructions to assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical/mechanical problems on proprietary Heidelberg equipment.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems including, but not limited to: PLC systems, VFDs, power circuits, relay logic systems, etc. Be able to provide clear and concise reports relating to technical clarification topics
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- Know and understand how test equipment works. Knows when, where, and how to use it. Knowledge and skills required, but not limited to, the following:
- Volt/ohm/amp meter (multimeter), Current probe, Megohmmeter, Thorough understanding of AC & DC circuits
- Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting techniques for electrical/electronic systems.
- Working knowledge of personal computers with Microsoft operating systems and customer account service systems, such as salesforce.com
- Knowledge of servos and related controllers including hydraulic and pneumatic, temperature controls
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, twist, duck, carry and push equipment and parts
Travel: This position requires travel to customers sites across Central Ontario but not limited to this area, the position includes a company vehicle or mileage allowance. When traveling outside of this geographical area all airfare, hotels and per diem are supplied. Position is paid in Canadian dollars.
