THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Sub Arc Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating submerged arc welding equipment to join metal components in accordance with engineering specifications, ensuring high-quality welds and adherence to safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate submerged arc welding (SAW) machines to perform welding on various metal components, including pipes, tanks, and structural pieces.
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment for optimal operation, including checking and replacing electrodes, flux, and wire feed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to ensure accurate welding according to project specifications.
  • Monitor welding processes and adjust parameters such as voltage, amperage, and speed to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns.
  • Inspect welded joints for defects, using visual inspection, gauges, and other testing tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of welding operations, including weld maps, material specifications, and quality control logs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality control personnel, and other team members to address any issues and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist with other welding or fabrication duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Sub Arc Operator or similar role in welding or fabrication.
  • Proficiency in operating submerged arc welding machines and related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques, including submerged arc welding, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect weld defects and take corrective actions.
  • Physical stamina to work in a production environment and handle heavy materials.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Additional training in submerged arc welding is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to high heat, noise, and other industrial conditions.
  • Use of protective gear such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety boots is required.
  • May be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekends depending on production schedules.
