About the role
Position: General Accounting Assistant to VP of Finance
Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Pay Rate: $68k to 72k Yearly
Shift Time: 9 AM – 5 PM
About the Company:
Serving clients in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma area for over 40 years. As a multi-trade construction company, we offer services in electrical, mechanical, civil, HVAC, technologies, and controls. We value integrity, teamwork, and continuous development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Supervise and support accounting staff as needed
- Oversee accounts receivable progress billing and assist with collections
- Manage vendor payments and ensure lien waivers are collected
- Monitor daily cash balances
- Handle fleet finance and administrative tasks
- Review union and non-union payroll and ensure timely reporting
- Manage IT issues and provide general support
- Assist with budgeting and monthly financial statements
- Oversee business and health insurance programs
- Support the VP of Finance in driving organizational development
Requirements:
- CPA designation or equivalent (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with Jonas Software (an asset)
- Strong knowledge of construction financial processes
- Proficiency in financial systems and Canadian tax regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and conflict resolution abilities
