The opportunity:
The purpose of this position is to create the digital, web, and hard copy materials aimed at optimizing marketing, recruitment and retention efforts for Student Residences. The position is responsible for executing the creation of this content utilizing designs that are professional in appearance and consistent with departmental and University guidelines. The Administration and Operations supervisor, who oversees this position, will require the incumbent to develop digital and print content based on general and specific topics/information/copy. Their responsibility is to provide new ideas, engaging text, imagery, organization/layout and colour schemes that presents the information professionally and is aesthetically pleasing. Normally they will provide multiple creative options for management to choose from.
With customer service excellence as the goal, the Customer Relations and Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for processing requests, providing information and services, and responding to inquiries for resident students, parents, and guests, including rates, meal plans and room availability – both in-person and electronically. Assists with a variety of administrative responsibilities in the Student Residence Office, including creating spreadsheets, StarRez reports, and documenting processes. This includes but is not limited to, room maintenance, inspections, overdue payments, equipment rentals, storage, keys, and damages.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institution required.
- An undergraduate University degree in a related discipline is an asset.
- Three years of directly-related experience required.
- Experience working with students, preferably in a University and/or residence setting required.
- Experience working with web content management systems/software, e.g., Word Press, Drupal, etc., is required.
- Knowledge and experience working with graphic design software and platforms, e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Canva, etc., is also required.
- Experience with StarRez housing software preferred. Knowledge of university housing or student intake software preferred.
- Knowledge of University of Manitoba policies and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge and familiarity with FIPPA/PHIA preferred.
- Familiarity with University forms and procedures is preferred.
- Knowledge of a POS terminal operation preferred.
- Working knowledge of U of M Systems such as: Aurora Student, and FAST preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Problem-solving, proven organizational skills, attention to detail, innovation, creativity and superior customer service skills required.
- Philosophy consistent with a team environment and attention to detail and ability to prioritize daily work tasks required.
- Intermediate level of Word, Excel, and organizing data within a variety of software applications required.
- Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality with respect to all communication and records to the extent protected under the law and statements of ethical practice required.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team required.
- Ability to work in an open area with constant interruptions, and to maintain a high quality and volume of work required.
- Ability to prioritize activities, and to handle many diverse projects simultaneously required.
- Ability to relate well and provide assistance to all levels of administrators, staff, students, and the public required.
- Must be capable of providing customer service standards and assist student office staff.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
