SUMMARY: The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing the entire supply chain process—from procurement through warehousing and distribution. This role ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and safe delivery of perishable and non-perishable goods while maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has deep experience in logistics, inventory management, vendor relations, and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Vendor Management
- Source and negotiate with food suppliers and manufacturers.
- Develop goals and objectives that tend to growth and prosperity
- Responsible for administrative tasks such as inventory management and costing, updating price lists and trade notifications
- Maintain relationships with existing clients and forge new ones to add to the Company’s re-distribution basket of goods
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure product quality, availability, and food safety standards.
- Forecast product needs based on customer demand, seasonality, and market trends.
Logistics & Distribution
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely delivery to customers or partner organizations.
- Optimize routes, freight costs, and carrier performance.
- Oversee third-party logistics (3PLs) and temperature-controlled transportation.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking across multiple locations and temperature zones.
- Monitor stock levels and implement inventory control measures to minimize spoilage and waste.
- Oversee Warehouse Manager, including receiving, storage, and order fulfillment.
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure adherence to legal rules and guidelines - in particular, Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
- Implement and maintain food safety protocols, including temperature monitoring and traceability systems.
Technology & Systems
- Utilize ERP, for planning and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline supply chain functions.
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop a team of supply chain, warehouse, and logistics personnel.
- Analyze supply chain performance metrics and implement continuous improvement strategies.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field
- 5+ years of supply chain experience, preferably in food distribution or perishable goods
- Proven leadership experience in warehouse, logistics, and procurement functions
- Working knowledge of food safety regulations (CFIA)
