About the role
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE ATTENDANT
There is a position available for a Before and After School Care Attendant at Duncan Cran Elementary. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until 12:00 pm noon on June 3, 2025. Please note that due to licensing requirements, only applicants 19 years of age or older can be considered for this position.
Reporting to site Administrative Officer(s) and Before & After School Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing before and after school care to school aged children. Successful applicant may need to work at other locations as needed in Before & After School Care Attendant position.
Hours of Work: 3 hours per day, 5 days per week - (2:30-5:30 pm)
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing
Work Base Year: 12 Months
Commencing Salary: $25.42/hr.
Duties to be assigned include:

Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.

Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for activities and rest periods.
-
Maintain toys and other applicable equipment and assist in housekeeping duties.
-
Supplies support services related to the position, for example (photocopying, typing and filing).
-
Uses a wide range of equipment including adaptive technology, argumentative communication devices, computer systems and software.
-
May be required to attend specific workshops at the direction of the Supervisor.

Performs other job related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
-
Grade 12 or equivalency
-
Education Assistant or ECE college courses would be an asset
-
One year training/experience working with school aged children is preferred
-
Level 1 First Aid Certificate may be required
-
Food Safe Certificate
-
Ability to work independently and set priorities
-
W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
-
Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
