Job Description

Our Recreation and Culture department is looking for an experienced Seasonal Recreation Infrastructure Worker performing a variety of tasks including small scale construction duties, small machinery and tool operation, painting, concrete finishing, carpentry, and other general labour duties as required to maintain and improve municipal reserve land, playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails, cemeteries, and other green spaces in the County. This position will run until October 17, 2025, with weekends and Stat holidays off.

Job Duties:

  • Safely operate equipment such as pickup truck with trailer, tractor, riding mower, push mower, trimmer, brush saw, rototiller, hedge trimmers, and various hand tools to perform maintenance and improvements at County parks, greenspaces, cemeteries, County buildings and other locations. Training will be provided as required to ensure competency and compliance with County Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Confidently hook up and unhook a trailer

  • Oversee the loading, securement and unloading of all equipment on / off trailers

  • Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment

  • Assist in routine maintenance and repair of all equipment used

  • Assist with brush cutting, grass repair, rototilling, painting, and general maintenance

  • As required, trim branches, rake leaves, and water public lawns, trees, and shrubs.

  • Visually inspect and assist in preforming yearly audits of County playgrounds

Qualifications

  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract

  • Standard First Aid Certificate Preferred

  • Minimum one year of experience operating lawn maintenance and landscaping equipment including but not limited to zero turns, trimmers, tool cats, skid steers, and rototillers considered an asset

  • Physically capable for general outdoor labour duties for an eight-hour shift

  • May be required to perform work in adverse weather conditions including heat, cold and inclement weather

  • Ability to deal with members of the public in a professional manner

  • Willingness to undertake training to meet operational requirements

Additional Information

Term Length: This contract position ends on October 17, 2025 from the date of hire.

Work Schedule: This position works 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Weekends and Stat holidays off.

Hourly Pay: $24.95 to $29.36.

Closing Date: August 8, 2025 11.59 pm.
