Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Geomatics Technician looking to be part of a dynamic, progressive team? Would you like to work in a technically advanced shop, using your skills and knowledge to support the design, construction and maintenance of Ontario's highways? If so, this job is for you!

About the job

In this challenging and technically diverse role, you will:

  • create and assess legal and engineering survey products
  • process and review engineering survey and legal survey products
  • assist in data management and data analysis
  • produce themes, maps, and spatial databases
  • research engineering and title records
  • assist project staff by providing technical guidance and support.

What you bring to the team

Technical expertise:

  • demonstrated knowledge of CAD and GIS software to produce and review themes, maps, spatial databases and shape files
  • demonstrated knowledge of GIS technology and practices
  • proficiency using common office productivity software

Land and engineering survey knowledge:

  • demonstrated knowledge of legal survey plans and practices with ability to interpret relevant legislation
  • demonstrated knowledge of land registry records and practices with ability to prepare legal survey plans and associated documents
  • demonstrated knowledge of engineering survey principles, practices and procedures, such as control surveys, digital terrain modeling and alignments

Essential skills:

  • strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain technical terminology in a clear way, to provide advice and guidance and to prepare reports
  • excellent analytical and research skills, including the evaluation of survey information
  • organizational skills to coordinate and organize own work activities on multiple projects with varying levels of complexity within deadlines
