The Position The Manager, Global Youth Engagement is an integral member of Team PLAY (Policy, Leadership, Advocacy, and Youth) and will lead operational efforts in global youth engagement and safeguarding. This role serves as a technical advisor, ensuring compliance with global safeguarding standards while driving impactful youth advocacy aligned with Plan International Canada's mission.

Working collaboratively with a dynamic and strategic team, you will support Team PLAY operations through project management, process optimization, enhancing program efficiency and cross-functional collaboration. This is a unique opportunity to shape youth programming and policy integration on a global scale.

What success looks like? Global Youth Engagement and Safeguarding (50%)

  • Serve as internal technical expert and advisor on safeguarding, meaningful youth engagement, and global youth advocacy

  • Working alongside safeguarding co-lead:

  • Contextualize global standards to national programming

  • Actively participate in committee meetings & provide leadership during bi-annual global hub self-assessments and audits

  • Create new tools to support safeguarding capabilities among Team PLAY and youth ambassadors

  • Provide oversight and support execution of global youth advocacy campaigns and strategic engagement opportunities, including coordination within Team PLAY, Plan International Canada and with our partners across the Plan International Federation

  • Ensure alignment between youth programming and policy advocacy priorities, integrating Policy Advocacy and Youth Engagement whenever possible

Team PLAY Operations and Programmatic Support (50%)

  • Lead on developing project management tools, and processes to outline programmatic priorities, portfolios and annual work planning, providing strong support to Team PLAY Director and Youth Engagement Unit
  • Standardized programmatic implementation tools and process for youth engagement programs such as but not limited to the start-up of new initiatives, promotions, recruitment, selection, impact reporting, and close out.
  • Supporting Team PLAY Director in the setting of annual KPI targets and budget for Youth Engagement Unit and responsible for team management in the completion of the quarterly enterprise-wide Business Planning and Performance (BPP) processes
  • Provide support to Youth Engagement Specialists in the programmatic implementation of The Power Within, in particular, supporting execution elements of the Systemic Change Fellowship
  • Lead on optimization efforts for Team PLAY to ease administrative burden and improve efficiency among team (collaborating with other department leads)
  • Lead annual global influentialness reporting with Global Hub, coordinating within Plan International Canada

As Our Ideal Candidate You Will Have

  • A resourceful, solution oriented, innovative and “can do” approach
  • An adaptable work style; open to collaboration with colleagues across the department, the organization, the federation, and external partners, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Strong understanding of intersectionality, anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices as it relates to working with youth
  • Demonstrated project management experience, particularly working on complex projects with large, cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with young people through youth program facilitation, workshop design and resource design, through in-person and digital delivery
  • Proven success managing multiple social impact projects simultaneously, complying with partnership agreements, and building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Experience developing program curriculum and resources focused on global issues and advocacy, leveraging an experiential learning framework
  • Skilled in budget development and financial management

Plan International Canada is a hybrid workplace. You will work from the office and from home.

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $ 64,000 and $ 80,000. We comprehensively evaluate a variety of factors to determine fair compensation, including experience, specific job-related skills, and relevant educational or professional training. Additionally, we ensure that compensation is equitable across our team and aligns with current market trends. This role also qualifies for an extensive benefits package and generous paid time off.
