About the role
Manager, Accounting/Finance
Located Mid-Toronto (4 days/week in office)
Salary between $110k - $120k plus discretionary bonus and benefits
Our client, a renowned real estate firm, is looking for a Manager, Accounting/Finance to join their team. This individual will be responsible for the accounting/financial operations related to the firm’s corporate management entities and will report to the VP Finance as well as having two direct reports of their own.
Responsibilities:
- Manage/mentor two direct reports
- Responsible for the review and preparation of monthly close activities for certain corporate entities; This involves preparation of the monthly financial reporting packages, monitoring accounts payable/ accounts receivable, preparing bank reconciliations and journal entries, and maintaining supporting subledgers and schedules
- Liaise and work collaboratively with corporate investment accounting team to support investment funding and accounting, as well as platform finance teams to manage consolidated reporting
- Daily entity level treasury monitoring of cash inflows and outflows, with forecasting of future cash needs and sources of funding to support the cash management needs of the corporate entities
- Responsible for reviewing compliance requirements including HST, EHT and WSIB filings
- Support the annual audit and budget processes
- Establish internal controls and procedures to minimize risk exposure to company and respective projects and reviews internal policies on a regular basis to ensure they are working as intended
- Review of existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvements that promote effective and efficient work flows
- Ad hoc tasks as requested
Experience:
- Certificate/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, pursuing/completed CPA
- 5+ years experience in accounting/finance
- Advanced Excel user with the ability to analyze and present data efficiently
- Experience handling or establishing complex company chargebacks
- Prior use of Yardi Voyager software is preferred
- Previous property accounting experience is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
