Job Description Sunset Lodge is a home that provides person-centered care to our community, guided by Christ and rooted in love.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care to residents, such as bathing, dressing, grooming oral hygiene and care of skin and nails.
  • Through appropriate behavior and work procedures, resident safety is priority while working in the facility.
  • Assists with transfers and mobilization of residents using body mechanics, transfer belts and mechanical aides such as walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts in accordance with policy of Sunset Lodge.
  • Records observations and reports any changes/concerns in resident’s condition, such as behavior, mobility, temperature, skin status, appetite and attitude to the LPN or RN.
  • Transports residents to and from dining room areas and transports residents to chapel, activities, other programs, or services
  • Assists residents with meals; serving, meal assistance, monitors residents’ intake and reports on resident’s intake when intake varies from their Nutrition Care Plan.
  • Provides written/verbal information on the activities of daily living and works with the LPN/RN to develop the Resident’s Care Plan and attends Care Conferences as required.
  • Assists with admission process and orientation of new residents according to policy.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment and safety hazards to LPN or RN.
  • Performs scheduled cleaning of W/C, walkers, tubs, lifts, and other equipment.
  • Assists with the orientation of new staff as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Experience :

  • Grade 10, plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Responsive, outgoing attitude and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to type.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

The wage rate for this position is $29.83 plus shift differentials as per the HEU Facilities Collective Agreement. Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $28.31 to $29.07 with a maximum of $29.83.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
