About the role

**Software Asset Management Support (6 month contract)

Location: Burnaby, BC / Hybrid

Staffing Placement Opportunity** General Description The IT Business Decision Support Consultant (Level 2) gathers, analyzes, documents, and manages business requirements for large or complex IT projects. The role produces high-quality project documentation and provides subject-matter expertise—whether domain-specific or tied to a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product—to IT teams, business stakeholders, and end-users, helping the organization meet its objectives.

Experience & Role Accountabilities

  • 7+ years of business-analysis experience on large?scale IT projects in a complex enterprise environment (or equivalent).
  • Produce high-quality artifacts—governance documents, process-impact assessments, process maps/designs—and secure stakeholder reviews and sign-offs to keep projects on time, on scope, and within budget.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external vendors on data-migration and system-interface activities, ensuring dependencies are understood and requirements clearly captured (BRDs, functional/non-functional specs, data requirements, use cases, RTMs, UI specs).
  • Support testing by creating test plans, scenarios/scripts, and test reports; verify that business requirements are fully met.
  • Provide ongoing clarification to UX, development, training, and testing teams so business requirements and process designs are correctly interpreted.
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning subsequent phases, documenting meeting outcomes, and ensuring smooth transition to sustainment teams.
  • Facilitate and lead workshops with SMEs, stakeholders, and implementation consultants to analyze and confirm deliverables.
  • Ensure proposed process-design solutions satisfy business requirements and project objectives; log and analyze scope/design changes.
  • When required, create change-management artifacts (stakeholder-impact analyses, change-management approaches, training materials) for rollout.
  • Offer subject-matter expertise in one or more key areas—applications or infrastructure technologies—to build organizational capability.

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of the relevant business domain and how technology solutions deliver business value.
  • Advanced business-analysis skill set with the ability to ramp up quickly on new projects, grasping business problems, objectives, and existing high-level designs.
  • Assets include experience in the public-sector or utilities space, familiarity with industry project-delivery methodologies, and knowledge of large-enterprise technology landscapes.
  • Excellent facilitation, coordination, interpersonal, and written/spoken communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).

Work-Assignment Requirements — Software Asset Management Specialist

  • Perform data reconciliation and remediation activities to ensure software-asset data accuracy and quality.
  • Guide application and infrastructure teams in architectural and licensing decisions that align with contract terms while optimizing total cost of ownership.
  • Lead the organization’s response to publisher-initiated software audits, establishing defense strategies and coordinating cross-functional teams for timely, unified responses.

Additional Experience & Knowledge

  • 5–10 years managing software-compliance programs, including negotiation of licensing terms and conditions.
  • Strong grasp of infrastructure and architectural design concepts that affect software licensing.
  • Proven track record leading software audits or audit-defense efforts in complex environments, using tooling and data-analysis techniques to establish effective license positions.
