Whitby is the second-largest municipality in the region and one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada. Reporting to and under the supervision of the Supervisor of Recreation & Community Programs, the Attendant III – Ice Patrol is responsible for the safety of the participants during the Public Skating sessions at Luther Vipond Memorial Arena, Iroquois Park Sports Centre and the McKinney Centre; providing customer service and assistance; and, other duties as may be assigned.

Our Community Services team is looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented team member. You convey your thoughts clearly and concisely. You listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding. Using sound judgment, you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public.

You’re always happy to learn new things and to help build a working environment that encourages and cultivates new ideas. You foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team.

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you must possess:

• a minimum Grade 10 education;
• current certification in CPR/AED (Level C) and Emergency First Aid;
• proven advanced skating abilities;
• must be able to communicate orally in a clear and concise manner;
• excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public;
• possess well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills;
• able to exercise discretion, judgement and diplomacy; and
• a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening prior to employment start date.
