What we are looking for:
We are entering our next stage of growth and are looking for a Finance Manager to join our team.
What you will do:
Financial Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end financial operations of the business
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Provide monthly information and analysis for the Management Team
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial discipline and maturity
- Establish relationships with external partners including banks, legal and customers
- Responsible for the annual budget process, providing monthly reviews, and any other reporting as requested
- Coordinate annual engagement of the Company with external auditors
- Perform analysis on various company projects and plans and provide alternatives and recommendations
Strategic Thinking
- Collaborate with partners and senior management to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the firm’s goals and objectives
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making
Process Enhancement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the finance department
- Implement best practices to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in financial processes
Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial laws
- Monitor and manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Learning and Innovation
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in finance
- Encourage a culture of curiosity and exploration within the finance team to discover new ways of working
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Proven experience in financial management with progressive financial responsibility, preferably within a professional services industry
- Full cycle accounting experience with expertise in Quickbooks
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and enhance financial maturity
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Location Requirement:
The person must be located in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM)
In person meetings:
There will be in-person meetings in the Halifax area with the executive team a few times per month.
