About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a growing professional services firm. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse tax files and planning engagements while advising clients on complex tax matters. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring staff and contributing to business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns, as well as partnership information returns.
  • Lead tax planning engagements for owner-managed businesses and Canadian domestic clients.
  • Provide advisory services to international and cross-border clients.
  • Oversee processes and procedures during tax season to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct tax research and provide technical insights for client engagements.
  • Draft correspondence for internal use, client engagements, and tax authorities.
  • Identify technical tax issues, develop solutions, and implement best practices.
  • Analyze new tax legislation and implement planning strategies for clients.
  • Prepare and deliver professional development seminars.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor tax staff, delegating assignments effectively.
  • Manage engagement phases, including budgeting, work-in-progress analysis, invoicing, and accounts receivable management.
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives to promote the firm's services.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 4 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm, with at least 1 year at the manager level.
  • CPA designation and enrollment in or completion of the In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Proficiency in tax software such as CaseWare and TaxPrep.
  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and address client inquiries.
  • Analytical skills to solve complex tax issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Leadership ability to manage engagements and foster team collaboration.
