Job Summary:
The Scale Operator will grade and weigh trucks delivering scrap metals, maintain accurate scale reports, deal with customers and trucking companies on a regular basis, as well as perform some basic accounting duties. You will receive price guidance and market information from the buyers on a regular basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Entering supplier information and set up customer accounts.
- Learn how to identify, grade and determine quality of metals.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Review and ensure materials purchased/sold are priced and coded correctly before payment to customers.
- Other duties as required.

- Exceptional customer service skills

- Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous metal identification considered a plus

- Willingness to learn and improve
- Team player
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
Office location: Richmond, BC
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Salary: $23-$24/hour

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our Richmond yard located at 11760 Mitchell road offers Ferrous Metal Recycling, Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling, Certified Destruction Capabilities, Wet Car Detox Station, Baling, Shearing, Shredding and much more. This yard is our parent yard and has trucks, rail and barge access.
Formerly Kamloops Scrap Iron and now re-branded as Richmond Steel Recycling, our Kamloops yard is located at 955 Ord Road. This yard offers Ferrous Metal Recycling, Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling, Industrial Obsolete and Tolling Processing Capabilities, Bus Railcars and Aluminum Trailer Recycling, Demo Scrap Services and much more. This yard offers truck and rail service
The Fort St. John yard is located at 9623 78th Street. This yard provides Industrial Obsolete and Demo Scrap Services, Demolition and Dismantling Services, Mobile Bailing Car Crushing and Shearing, Rail Car Loading and more. Truck and rail access are both available.
Our Prince George yard located at 1004 Eastern Street, offers much of the same great Ferrous Metal Recycling and Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling services as our other 3 yards. With services such as Stevedoring, Trucking Boxes and Roll off Container Services, Certified Destruction Capabilities and more, this yard also provides truck and rail access.
