About the role

Position Purpose and****Summary

The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repairs for the Manager will perform some tasks themselves and recommend other service providers depending on the work required. The Maintenance Manager will also keep an eye on what future renovations and improvements might be needed in coordination with the LLC Executive Director and Campus management and staff.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Supervise, schedule and manage cleaning staff at the LLC, including weekly routine cleaning and contracted cleaners, as well as end of semester turnaround and seasonal maintenance with outside contractors.
  • Maintain all building management in coordination with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator, including contracts, routine and emergency maintenance as related to heating and cooling, plumbing, electric, routine fire inspections, appliance maintenance, etc.
  • Perform some maintenance tasks, including painting, certain electrical and plumbing work/repairs etc.
  • Ensure the LLC meets health and safety standards.
  • Perform year-round ground maintenance and oversee any contracts with outside service providers (e.g., snow removal).
  • Inform the Executive Director of problem or potential problem areas, respond to student requests for maintenance, and proactively conduct routine inspections of all areas of the property, being alert for tenant safety as well as building maintenance.
  • Communicate regularly with the LLC Executive Director and TWU management and staff about necessary renovations and improvements as needs arise.
  • Maintain LLC van in good working order by ensuring regular maintenance check-ups occur and logging maintenance activities.

  • Good interpersonal skills. Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to organize and work under schedule, time and budget pressures.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, develop plans and meet deadlines.
  • General maintenance skills imperative; certificate in certain trades valued.
  • Valid Driver’s license.

Standards & Requirements

Education: High school diploma. Community College and trade certification is considered an asset.

Experience: 2-3 years of related experience is preferred.
