About the role
Alberta Garage Builders is a locally owned and operated construction company specializing in the design and construction of garages and garden suites. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, functional spaces for our clients. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team and play a key role in the success of our projects.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in residential construction estimating (local market experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of garage and garden suite construction methods and materials
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and engineering drawings to assess scope, complexity, and build requirements
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential garage and garden suite projects
- Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of local material, labour, and subcontractor pricing
- Present formal estimates to internal stakeholders and support pricing strategy discussions
- Track and manage all estimate documentation, including revisions and cost breakdowns
- Collaborate with project managers and sales teams to align estimates with client expectations and timelines
- Adjust estimates throughout the project lifecycle as design and scope evolve
- Generate project progress and cost tracking reports
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators or support staff as needed
Nice to Have:
- Ability to create or interpret technical drawings
- Familiarity with local permitting processes and building code requirements
- Experience with estimating software and project management tools
