Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the provision of client focused Occupational Therapy service delivery, which includes consultation, evaluation, treatment and discharge planning, which may necessitate assessment and recommendations of the clients’ home environment prior to discharge. The Occupational Therapist will be a clinical resource within the multidisciplinary team providing care, assisting with comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation and treatment to adult patients with serious mental illness. This model of care follows the principles of client centered care within a psychosocial rehabilitation approach. In addition, the Occupational Therapist will provide education to the department staff that is consistent with best practices. This position contributes to the hospital mission by being a team member, which ensures confidentiality, quality, and client-centered health care in the community. The Occupational Therapist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Mental Health experience - Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team
Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability
French language proficiency is considered an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy - Required
Registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario - Required
Relevant internship/educational placement experience - Required
Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - Required
