What You Will be Doing:
- Visit the premises of residential, commercial and industrial consumers to read and record water usage registered by direct read and AMR meters and audit serial number and meter size, where applicable.
- Attend properties to obtain special readings and perform basic meter checks at times by appointment scheduled by office staff.
- Leave customer a "self-report" card or other information "door tag" where access is not available.
- Report any properties with discrepancies, or concerns, and endeavour to obtain leads to advise office staff of information required to gain access, obtain readings, or resolve incongruities.
- Ascertain property vacancy and new building occupancy status.
- Identify properties for loss prevention action.
- Answer inquiries and direct consumers with related and unrelated queries or concerns to proper Department when out in the field.
- Deliver various notices from time to time as directed.
- Prepare report of daily activities for statistical purposes, section readings taken and visits, moves, checks and shut-off notices delivered.
- Keep proper maintenance schedule for assigned vehicle.
- Maintain equipment such as flashlights, walkie-talkies, cell phones and batteries and keep records for usage of cellular phone.
- Perform other similar and related duties, as required.

About You:
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Physical capacity to climb stairs, enter confined spaces, stand, bend and walk for extended periods.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of City streets.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Ability to efficiently meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing and water meters an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.
