What you'll be doing...
Please note this is a Part Time Regular Role (0.8)
This is a fast-paced role, where you'll perform a variety of duties related to the dispatching of work to Transit Operators including assigning work to operators by applying different contractual spare board rules for VTC, LTC, and National Safety Code rules. You will exercise your analytical skills one moment, as you allocate various types of buses for all of our routes, while providing excellent customer service, as you respond to radio-transmitted trouble calls by You are someone comfortable learning new software and operating systems (we use PPM and Trapeze) as needed.
Please note that this position has shifts that operate out of both our Victoria and Langford transit centers. You will be required to work a variety of shift times including into the early morning and overnight. Please note that these shifts are sometimes outside of transit service hours which means reliable transportation to both depots is a requirement.
What you'll bring to the table...
We love lifelong Learners and recommend the following mix of education or certifications to be successful in conjunction with relevant experience:
- Experience working in an office setting preferably performing dispatch duties, being able to schedule a large number staff (200+ for AM pullout) onto available work that is time sensitive
- Computer experience (current) required including using spreadsheets and database software
- Excellent customer service experience
- Experience in a transportation/transit environment
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A good working knowledge of the Greater Victoria region and previous dispatch experience
