About the role
Who you are
- Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
- New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date
- Available to work full-time hours
- Residing in Canada
- Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Is currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or related field
- Has basic understanding of auditing principles and concepts (e.g., GAAS, financial reporting)
- Has ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Is passionate about technology, specifically fintech
- Combines energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated interest in accounting, finance, and analytics
- Excellent attention to detail, combined with strong communication and collaboration skills
What the job involves
- At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians. You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!
- Support testing and evaluation of internal processes, risks and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
- Participate in audit planning and coordination efforts
- Learn to identify and assess risks, controls, and deficiencies
- Assist in the preparation of process narratives and flowcharts
- Assist in preparing internal controls recommendations, improvement opportunities and remediation plans for deficiencies
- Learn about the fintech industry and asset management and how to analyze and interpret financial data and trends
