Job Description:
PLEASE READ EMPLOYMENT STIPULATIONS FOR POSITION PRIOR TO APPLYING
Students applying to this position must be in receipt of OSAPor out-of-province assistance during the current or prior academic yearormust have a demonstrated financial need determined using Financial Aid and Student Awards standardized needs and assessment budget calculation tool.
For students to be eligible for CSEP positions, they must be registered in a full-time program, be a domestic fee-paying student, and must be able to demonstrate a financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding.
Students in the Library and Information Technician program are encouraged to apply.
Reporting to the Manager, Student Learning Centre & Libraries, the incumbent provides assistance to learners at the AC Libraries. Assists, as required, in the maintenance of physical library materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs shelving, shelf-reading and general upkeep of the physical collection;
- Performs duties such as straightening furniture and tidying the physical space, as required;
- Supports staff with opening mail, loose-leaf filing for legal collection;
- Assists staff with creating/updating physical marketing materials (i.e, buttons,);
- Supports library team at marketing events as required;
- Assists clients with directional queries as required and redirects complex questions to technicians or librarians as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Algonquin College student- will be registered for the Fall 2025 semester;
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma;
- One (1) year experience in a library setting would be considered as asset;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete projects with minimal direction;
- Must be self-motivated, and self-directed;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Successfully able to multi-task and possess a high attention to detail:
- Proficient communication skills (oral and written);
- A proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgement pertaining to access to private and secure information;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- CSEP eligible preferred.

- This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP.
- You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students are not eligible: Second Career, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;
- You must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date;
- You must demonstrate a financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding
