The Opportunity:

Our client, a publicly listed organization and one of North America’s largest distribution and processing companies, is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Internal Audit Consultant for a contract engagement at their Corporate Office in Mississauga. In this role, you will lead and execute internal audit engagements, providing Senior Management, external auditors, and the Board of Directors with an independent assessment of the internal control environment and the effectiveness of control procedures. You will manage audit projects defined in the annual audit plan and oversee a small team or individual contributors as appropriate.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and scope risk-based audit plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and objectives.
• Lead and perform audit procedures such as documenting processes, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and identifying control gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct data analytics and sampling to support audit findings and recommendations.
• Prepare and review working papers to ensure completeness, clarity, and compliance with internal standards and audit methodologies.
• Communicate audit results to management in closing meetings and provide clear, practical recommendations.
• Draft audit reports and present them to senior stakeholders for review and approval.
• Oversee follow-up testing to validate that agreed-upon actions have been implemented effectively.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to internal audit team members as needed.
• Perform related projects or special assignments as required by management.

What You'll Bring:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA and/or CIA designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive internal or external audit experience, including experience leading audits or managing audit teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to build rapport at all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Experience with ACL (or similar audit analytics software) is an asset.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the United States (up to 35%).
• Must be legally entitled to reside and work in Canada and travel cross-border as needed.
