About the role

Reporting to the Distribution Manager, the Distribution Specialist is a member of the Supply Chain department. This role has a strong focus on coordinating freight, shipping and receiving, as well as accurately tracking and counting finished goods inventory.

Key activities

  • Coordinating all FG freight movements within Western Canada shipping from the Kelowna and other offsite warehouses:
  • Coordinating the carrier selection that has been determined by TMS to ensure customer orders are delivered on time and withing budget expectations.

  • Dispatch of orders and transfers within TMS, WMS and LX systems.

  • Ensuring all orders (approx. 11,500 orders annually) are shipping on a timely basis so that delivery performance is >98.5%.

  • Preparing customs paperwork for export shipments and monitoring for accuracy of export duties.

  • Managing return process and claims, accurate and timely entry and/or approval of debit notes and RMAs.

  • Shipping & Receiving Admin Duties:
  • Coordinating accurate and timely shipment of orders and stock transfers from the SunRype warehouses for time arrival as per requests.

  • Assigning/delegating forklift drivers to load and receive orders, assisting in their inquiries with missed pallets, and issues with assigning.

  • Accurately processing bills of lading from WMS for carrier and for invoicing to customers.

  • Completing accurate entry of all warehouse receiving’s and stock transfers between warehouse locations.

  • Effectively documenting control of paperwork associated with stock transfers and receiving.

  • Organize carriers for shipping sales orders and warehouse transfers so that bookings are completed through TMS.

  • May need to follow up with carriers and TMS.

  • Filing of transportation documents for customs.

  • Maintaining an appropriate level of CHEP pallets at all warehouses. Work within the CHEP portal.

  • Inventory Control Duties:
  • Work within WMS and LX to perform the following functions for inventory control:
  • Proficiency in looking up inventory in WMS, and LX.
  • Make inventory adjustments as required in WMS and LX.
  • Complete and assist with Inventory Cycle counts.
  • Vacation Relief for the other Distribution Specialist.

Required Training And Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent business experience.
  • 2 years of relevant office experience in Transportation or Warehouse environment.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office.
