The Town of New Tecumseth is accepting College and University Co-op/Intern student applications to fill one Co-op/Intern position to commence in September 2025 for either a 4-month or 8-month placement.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, this position is responsible for supporting the
revenue, accounts payable and procurement units to meet service delivery needs. This will
include backfilling activities, performing analytical work and supporting staff on financial services
initiatives.
• Support the Finance branches during peak cycle times such as property tax and utility due dates; this would include, but not limited to, entering AP invoices (Great Plains), utility account creation (Great Plains), returning customer/vendor calls and emails, creating Pos (Paramount), etc.
• Perform general financial analysis, i.e. process mapping, account reconciliations, supplier analysis, spend without purchase order, open purchase orders, write offs, etc.
• Assist in the development and improvement of finance project models (e.g. user fees & rates)
• Data compilation and aid in the preparation of a variety of reports for Senior Management, and other reporting (e.g. monthly PCard reports)
• Provide analysis and support for annual Finance and Procurement initiatives
• Administer various low dollar value Procurement functions such as store accounts,
purchasing cards, gas cards, uniform ordering and cell phone tracking.
• Perform audit functions on various purchases, including PCard transactions, Construction Lien Act invoices, department-led low value procurement solicitations, etc.
• Day to day administrative support, including document filing and scanning, stuffing and mailing, etc.
• Assist with updating web content for the department
• Assist in monitoring of and preparation for industry updates and benchmarks (e.g. case law, Building Ontario Businesses Initiative Act (BOBI), Supply Point of Access (SPA) for Reporting in Ontario (SPAROn))
Eligibility/Qualifications:
• Registered as a full-time post-secondary student at an accredited academic institution pursuing a degree or diploma in Business or Accounting
• Are legally entitled to work in Canada
• Returning to full-time studies in the next academic term *Note: students in their final year of academic study who do not intend to return to full-time studies are eligible for student employment until the time they graduate
• Previous experience in an office environment is preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferably having in-depth knowledge of Excel
• Knowledge of financial applications would be an asset
Wage Rate: $19.56 - $21.73/hr, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
Hours: 35 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Start Date: September 1, 2025
