New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 5x2, Monday- Friday

Position Reports To: IT Supervisor

Position Overview: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a student to join our New Afton team for an 8 or 12 month work term commencing in September 2025. This position will provide support to the Innovation & Technology Team and New Afton's Digital Transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements from end users and develop into digital solutions using Microsoft suite of products including:
    • Mobile and web applications using Power Apps;
    • Process automation solutions using Power Automate;
    • Reports using Power BI;
    • SQL databases;
    • ETL solutions using SSIS.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in third- or fourth-year University program in Software Engineering or Computer Science.

  • Keen interest in business and data.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to work effectively independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

  • Must have access to personal transportation and be eligible to drive in Canada.

Would be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of SQL.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Experience with coding.

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen

  • Provide proof of a valid driver’s license

  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada

  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements and transcripts

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $52,000 to $64,480. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
