About the role

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you. As an Electromechancial Estimator working in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What You Will Do

  • Perform material and labor quantity estimates for major jobs.
  • Prepare summary quantities based on plans and specifications, classifying according to standard sections and trades.
  • Participate in the selection of concepts, types of equipment and suppliers.
  • Attend coordination meetings, site visits, and assess the difficulty of projects to be estimated.
  • Research material or subcontractor prices after analyzing bid documents. Invite subcontractors, provide them with the necessary documents and give them access to the virtual plan room.
  • Verify compliance of amounts received from suppliers and subcontractors with tender documents.
  • Participate in updating the database of subcontractors and suppliers, and propose alternatives to reduce construction costs.

This role could be for you if you have

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in design-build projects.
  • Good technical knowledge of building electrical mechanics.
  • Strong skills in reading plans and specifications.
  • Versatility and excellent analytical skills.

Additional Assets

  • Experience in estimating commercial and institutional projects for a specialized subcontractor or consulting engineering firm.
  • Good knowledge of OST, Excel and Revit-MEP.
