WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The RN is responsible for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through application of specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing health needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

Registered Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Graduate of a BSc in Nursing or education and experience that allows the RN to practice at full scope
-
Current BLS Certification
-
Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to acute medical nursing with the ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking skillset
-
Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record)
-
Capability to administer medication inclusive of IV medication administration, with a physician’s order
-
Ability to assess, adapt and respond within a constantly changing environment
-
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
-
Excellent attendance record in alignment with STEGH’s attendance policy
-
Acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH’s mission, vision, values and code of conduct
WHAT WE PREFER YOU HAVE:
- NIHSS Certification
- Alpha FIM Certification
- Apex Hemispheres Stroke Module Completion
- Prior Acute and Rehab Stroke Unit Orientation
(above courses must be completed if the position is accepted)

Two (2) years’ clinical experience providing care to acute and/or rehabilitation stroke patients within the last three (3) years
HOURS:
The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department in accordance with the availability and non-availability requirements outlined in the ONA Collective Agreement. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department.
