Information Designer / Technical Writer

Job description:
AGFA HealthCare is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer/Information Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with subject matter experts to research, write, and develop comprehensive end-user documentation for our software products. Utilizing a content management system and DITA-based XML editor, you will transform complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
As a member of the Documentation Team, your expertise in documentation best practices and innovative strategies will contribute to our global documentation initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality documentation for both external customers and internal service personnel.
Major Duities & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and present relevant information in a clear and consumable manner for various audiences, including radiologists, medical secretaries, integrators, deployment specialists, service technicians, application specialists, and system administrators

Manage multiple projects to create product documentation in various formats (HTML/PDF) that adhere to company documentation and quality assurance standards
-
Research, analyze, and extract relevant information from product specifications, testing results, and use cases to meet documentation requirements
-
Participate in global project groups to define software documentation plans and requirements
-
Write high-quality content that adheres to specified standards, processes, and guidelines
-
Manage content reviews using a document management system and update content based on feedback
-
Edit technically complex content for clarity without altering key information
-
Collaborate with subject matter experts, product managers, and other key contributors to gather pertinent information
-
Create online user guides, release notes, service manuals, and bulletins that are clear, informative, and accurate for AGFA’s software applications
-
Utilize a project management system (JIRA) to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict release deadlines
-
Collaborate with the Documentation, Production Tools, and Knowledge Management teams to contribute to improvement projects
Technical Skills and Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Design, Rhetoric and Professional Writing, English Literature, Technical Communication, or other related discipline
-
2 to 4 years of previous technical writing and communication experience, preferably in a software environment or medical device manufacturing industry
-
Proficiency in XML and HTML skills with a good working knowledge of content management systems (preferably MadCap IXIA CCMS) and XML editors (preferably Oxygen)
-
Experience with DITA standards topic-based authoring
-
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with software product development and product documentation requirements
-
Experience in CSS, instructional design, UX design, and web design is beneficial as is working with user personas
-
Skills in graphic design, illustrations, diagrams, flowcharts, SVG creation, videos, animations, etc. are advantageous
-
Ability to continually learn new technologies and communicate technological principles and information in an easy-to-understand manner for the end-user
-
Foundational understanding of HL7 or DICOM standards is beneficial, as is experience in the medical imaging industry
-
Familiarity with productivity/collaboration tools like SharePoint, Livelink, Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), and Microsoft Office and Teams is beneficial
-
Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework is beneficial
