Site: St. Joseph's Hospital

Shifts: Days/Evenings including Weekends

Rate of Pay: $20.60 per hour

Position Summary

The Clinical Extern Program is an exciting opportunity for actively enrolled students in healthcare-related programs to gain hands-on clinical experience. Clinical Externs will function as unregulated healthcare providers, delivering basic care to clients and families in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional.

St. Joseph’s Hospital is currently recruiting Clinical Externs for In-Patient Rehabilitative Care and the Mental Health Rehabilitation Program for fall and winter coverage. Applications are being accepted until September 3, 2025 with interviews taking place mid-September.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a CNO-approved baccalaureate or diploma nursing program (any year), or
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy program
  • Completion of a recent clinical placement is preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Creativity, critical thinking, and sound problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
  • Commitment to client-centered care
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with computer software, including email and electronic documentation
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Demonstrated regular attendance and reliability

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is required
