Data Assistant Part-Time for federal government agency client, Central Ontario Region.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: ASAP to March 31 2026, with possible extension.
Compensation: $21 per hour.
Additional Benefits: Excellent part time opportunity for qualified accounting, finance or data engineering student or new graduate looking to gain government experience.
Regular Work Hours: PART TIME HOURS; 7.5 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked between 7 am and 5 pm EST, 3 days per week between Monday through Friday (22.5 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid - primarily remote-based, with onsite attendance 2-3 days per month at either the Toronto or Waterloo Ontario offices.
Position Reports To: Manager, Operations and Finance.
Responsibilities Summary:
Provide data administration services and office support services to Operations and Finance Team, including data gathering, mining, reformatting and analysis. Will assist with the creation and maintenance of master data, provide assistance to database users, and ensure data integrity by reviewing master data, monitoring data usage, and managing data in accordance with instructions, policies and best practices.
- Collect, clean, organize and analyze department data to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
- Mine, filter and format data, and develop reports in support of regional planning.
- Perform on-going cleansing of master data. Review and monitor data use, remove duplicate or erroneous data and archive master data no longer in use in accordance with established business rules and procedures.
- Create databases and develop custom reports on existing corporate databases using tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Identify and document any system deficiencies, such as missing or inconsistent data between database systems.
- Act as administrative support back-up to office administration staff. Make travel reservations, develop itineraries and prepare travel expense claims as required.
- Provide additional data administration progress reports as required.
- Coordinate various project and day-to-day activities amongst internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Additional administrative and office support tasks as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Should be at Second (2nd) Year University level in either a Finance or Accounting program, or equivalent discipline.
Preferred Work Experience: Must have at least Three (3) Months of experience using SAP, SONAR, and SONAR 360 systems, and demonstrated strong proficiency in managing data from multiple sources and in multiple formats.
Preferred Sector Experience: Federal government sector experience preferred. Finance or research sector experience an asset.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated proficiency with SAP, SONAR and SONAR 360 to mine, filter and format data and create reports.
- Advanced proficiency with MSExcel including Pivot Tables (will be tested).
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail (will be tested).
- Additional experience with Sigma or DocZone software an asset.
- Strong English communication skills including satisfactory business writing skills, excellent reading comprehension and proofreading, verbal presentation skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences, and professional telephone manners.

- Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have Government of Canada Reliability Status Security Clearance certification, which will include a Fingerprint Check, prior to assignment start. Please note that Marberg will reimburse for the cost of the security clearance upon satisfactory completion of security clearance application process and submission of approved expense receipts.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety and information security policies.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
