We are a specialty service, truck carrier located in Delta, B.C. who provides general cargo, refrigerated and bulk commodity transportation throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Washington State. We are a busy and growing company and are dedicated to providing excellent service to all of our customers – and our team makes this happen! From Truck Drivers to Accounts Receivable, our dynamic and supportive team carries out Aquatrans’ success.

Nature of Position:

Full-time, contract position - Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Must be available to work in the Aquatrans office located in Delta, BC. 5 days per week.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the Human Resource Administrator performs a variety of support functions for the HR department such as full-cycle recruitment, employee orientations and onboarding, payroll data entry, composing internal and external communications and other administrative support tasks as required. This is a unique opportunity for recent university graduate or someone looking to take that next step in their HR career.

You will:

Human Resources

  • Support in the recruiting process by postings jobs, complete screening interviews, assist in the selection process, preparing job offer documents and onboarding of new employees
  • Complete pre-employment screening including setting up drug and alcohol testing, criminal records checks, reference checks and other required background screening
  • Assist in the progressive disciplinary process for all employees
  • Perform orientation/onboarding for new employees
  • Maintain HR records and ensure strict confidentiality of employee information
  • Help to ensure organization wide compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Participate on the OH&S committee and Communications Committee
  • Prepare monthly company communications and newsletters
  • Distribute HR policies, procedures and memorandums to the appropriate individuals, divisions, or departments across the organization.
  • Performing office duties that include ordering supplies and general office functions

Payroll

  • Complete calculations and data entry for bi-weekly and monthly payroll for company drivers and owner operators
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll related questions
  • Perform other payroll duties as required

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field required
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a human resources or administrative role preferred
  • Payroll experience an asset
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
