Halifax, NS, Victoria, BC or Ottawa, ON Expected Salary: $55,346 to $69,183

In determining the final salary, Babcock will consider a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and be presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for accurately processing all new employees and employment changes in the systems used by Human Resources
  • Coordinate onboarding activities with various stakeholders and participate in onboarding meetings
  • Respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
  • Management and monitoring of the Human Resources inbox in Outlook
  • Responsible for tracking employee contract and acting assignment end dates
  • Liaise with payroll as required regarding timesheets, employee benefits & RRSP/DPSP, salary changes, new hires, etc.
  • Process all employee referrals and report monthly to payroll
  • Write employee verification letters and when required, employment contracts
  • Assist with preparing weekly and monthly HR reports such as a payroll change summary, leave summary, headcount, new starters, movers, and voluntary / involuntary departures as required
  • Assist with all types of employee leaves, including but not limited to, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Maternity / Parental Leave, Leave of Absences
  • Assist with recruitment activities as needed
  • Contribute to the continuous process improvement of the HR team and business unit by supporting human resources strategies, policies and methods
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate brings:

  • Post-secondary education in human resources or a related field, as well as a minimum of one-year relevant experience in HR
  • Experience completing data entry in an HRIS system is a must
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both written work and data entry
  • Ability to produce quality results in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks with professionalism
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience coordinating or processing leaves would be an asset but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; including verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to work effectively alone and within a team
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
