About the role

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paint / Wall Coverings Instructor for IMMEDIATE HIRE to join our dynamic team at A Women'sWork (AWW) Support Centre.

In this role, you'll be responsible for using a developed curriculum to instruct participants who selected the the Paint / Wall Coverings hybrid course.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a movement that envisions a world where every woman has the self esteem, personal empowerment and skills needed to build homes, their finances, their lives and the world around them.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adapt AWW's Paint / Wall Coverings Curriculum.
  • Provide instruction / training as outlined in the curriculum.
  • Conduct knowledge and skills assessments.
  • Accompany participants on Field Trips and support / guide their learning experiences.
  • Ensure training materials and tools / equipment required for classes are acquired ahead of time.
  • Work with other instructors to help maintain the inventory of tools snd equipment.
  • Participate in weekly instructor meetings.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Monitor participants and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate activities and support individual goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant activities, progress, and behavior.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance personal development and instructional skills.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Journeyperson Certification: 5 -10+ years practical skill and experience.
  • Extensive Commercial Painting Experience:

Proven track record in residential and various commercial settings (schools, offices, retail, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Different Painting / Wall Covering Techniques and Materials: From surface preparation to various coatings and finishes.
  • Teaching/Mentoring Aptitude: Ability to effectively impart knowledge and skills is crucial.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in residential and commercial painting is a must.
  • Passion for the Trades and for Empowering Women: This is a significant asset in a school for women working in the construction skilled trades.
  • Demonstrated, strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in an educational or instructional role in residential and commercial painting / Wall coverings is preferred.​
  • Strong trade workshop management skills with the ability to engage diverse learners is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with program participants and colleagues.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports the needs of all participants.
