About the role

Position Title: Supervisor, Early Years
Location**:** 2-3Various Early Years programs in Vancouver (Woodward's/Nanook with base out of Robert Lee YMCA)
Terms: Permanent, Full-time: 35-40 hours per week
Salary: $48,000-52,000, includes benefits, plus, an additional $6/hour for Licensed ECE’s as per the ECE Wage Enhancement Initiative
Start Date: September 1, 2025
Reports To: Manager, Early Childhood & Family Development

Nature & Scope:
We are seeking a dynamic Supervisor, Early Childhood and Family Development to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Early Childhood & Family Development, the Supervisor will provide leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to staff and volunteers working with children and families in licensed group childcare programs. The Supervisor will work as part of the YMCA Early Childhood and Family Development leadership team to ensure the delivery of quality programs and initiatives that contribute to individual, family, and community well-being.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to 2-3 YMCA Child Care Programs with a focus on building a strong team
  • Coach, develop, and support staff and volunteer teams to achieve excellence in service delivery
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, and key stakeholders including, licensing officers, community agencies, and other service providers
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that meet Provincial Licensing Legislation and YMCA requirements and standards
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff teams to ensure that the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and best practices are consistently maintained in the programs to support children’s development and learning
  • Responsible for overseeing specific spending accounts, and supporting the Manager with following the program budget
  • Manage and meet association commitments and targets with regard to the YMCA Strong Kids fundraising campaign, YMCA initiatives and other special projects
  • Be an engaged and integral part of a cohesive management team, working to achieve the mission of the YMCA of Greater Vancouver
  • Establish an environment that fosters cultural safety and inclusivity for staff, children, and families.
  • Implementation of YMCA’s National Playing to Learn Curriculum
  • Employee Engagement; create productive, collaborative, and successful staff teams
  • Coach, Mentor, and Develop Team Leaders and Early Childhood Educators

Experience/Qualifications:

  • BC Early Childhood Educator certificate - IT and SN preferred
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Leadership of multiple staff teams in satellite locations
  • Proven experience with stakeholder and partner engagement
  • Excellent Communication skills both oral and written.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience working with children and families in licensed group childcare programs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge and experience of emergent curriculum such as YMCA Playing to Learn with evidence of successful implementation and ongoing consistency within programs
  • Strong knowledge of child growth and development, family relations and family-centered practices
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable and work in a high-demand environment
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem-solving skills
  • First Aid/CPR-C certificate required
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and flexible schedule, as required
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
