About the role

Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $28.11/Hr. - CAD $28.11/Hr.

Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Services Leader, this role handles maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment, including wheelchairs and lifts, and inspects external repairs.

What You Bring:

Education:

  • Grade 10 education
  • Three years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to deal with others effectively

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

  • Ability to organize work

  • Ability to operate related equipment

Your Day to Day:

  • Replaces and repairs plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, supply lines, waste lines, sprinkler lines).
  • Conducts carpentry repairs on cupboards, shelves, furniture, walls, ceilings, and windows using drywall, wood paneling, and glass.
  • Applies paint and finishes; removes and replaces tiles, linoleum, and carpet.
  • Performs minor renovations, including constructing walls.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and performs electrical/mechanical repairs (disassembling, cleaning, greasing, replacing parts).
  • Executes welding repairs and installs items (timers, switches, receptacles, ballasts).
  • Refers equipment needing repair to Supervisor; identifies when replacement is necessary.
