Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
A Recreation Clerk provides professional customer service by registering participants, booking facilities and supporting departmental administrative needs.
Duties - Union

Acts as the key point of contact with external customers.

Responds to enquiries from the public, including web-based enquiries, regarding various programs, services and facilities; explains user fees/charges and various departmental policies/procedures; refers unusual/sensitive customer service issues and complaints to the Supervisor.

Operates a multi-line computer phone system and uses a computerized registration system to receive and process payments for various program registrations, memberships, facility and equipment rentals, and other fees and charges.

Provides refunds for cancelled programs in accordance with established policy; processes NSF cheques and contacts customer for payment; ensures money is safeguarded; balances payments/disbursements with receipts and computerized general ledger; completes daily cash balance and related control reports and revenue statistics.

Creates, inputs, updates and maintains various paper and electronic records in support of department operations. (e.g. procedure and policy manuals, program statistics, records of inventories, fees/charges information and other operational data).

Responds appropriately to a wide variety of public assistance, user control and building security issues (i.e. lost children and personal property, violations of facility regulations, etc.)

Provides administrative and clerical assistance to internal staff in support of various programs; assembles agendas, updates information booklets and notices, photocopies and assembles newsletters, brochures, etc.
