Position Overview

Calian is assembling a pool of early-career candidates for potential future opportunities supporting projects in the defense and security sector. These full-time roles offer hands-on technical experience in communications, cybersecurity, and intelligence support—ideal for individuals looking to grow in dynamic, operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain secure communications and digital information systems.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of radio, satellite, and tactical network equipment.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of electronic or signal intelligence (SIGINT).
  • Perform cyber monitoring, threat detection, and secure data transmission.
  • Track and report aerospace activity (for Aerospace Control Operators) using radar and sensor systems.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wired and wireless communication systems.
  • Perform signal testing and diagnostics to ensure reliable data transmission.
  • Document system performance, maintenance activities, and equipment inventory.
  • Operate and support secure voice and data communication systems in field or base environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and/or diploma or certificate in Network Administration, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, ICT, Diesel Engine, or Telecommunications & Network Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking, radio frequency (RF) systems, or digital communications.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and operate specialized software and systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and situational awareness skills.
  • Willingness to undergo security clearance and work in fast-paced, operational environments.
  • Basic knowledge of RF systems, networking, or digital signal transmission.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in field-based or operational settings.
  • Willingness to undergo safety and security training; adaptable to dynamic environments.

  • Open to relocation or working across different regions in Canada
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents
