About the role

TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for a Maintenance Administrator to join their team of rail professionals.

The Maintenance Administrator is responsible for supporting the effective operation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), with a focus on IBM Maximo. This role manages work order creation, contractor coordination, system administration, and user support to ensure timely and accurate maintenance tracking across the organization. The Administrator will process customer service requests, track contractor work, maintain system data integrity, and provide user training and reporting. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance, optimizing maintenance processes, and supporting the operational reliability of the LRT system.

Who we are

TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton. Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the valley line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to anywhere the LRT stops.

A typical day for the Maintenance Administrator

CMMS (Maximo) Administration

  • Initiate and issue work orders to contractors based on service requests or maintenance plans.
  • Track contractor work progress in Maximo, ensuring proper updates, documentation, and timely work order completion.
  • Generate reports for maintenance compliance, inventory management, and quality audits.
  • Train users on Maximo procedures and workflows.
  • Manage Maximo user accounts, including creation, updates, and deactivation of profiles and access roles.
  • Submit and manage Maximo-related service requests.

 Contractor and Customer Administration

  • Coordinate schedules between contractors and internal teams to minimize service disruptions and ensure safety protocols.
  • Support invoicing by matching contractor work to Purchase Orders and confirming accuracy before submitting for payment.
  • Work independently with strong time management, task prioritization, and productivity.
  • Additional responsibilities as required with a willingness to support all departments within TransEd.

What you will bring to the team

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Asset Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in CMMS administration, preferably with IBM Maximo.
  • Experience generating reports and dashboards from CMMS data (e.g., maintenance KPIs, compliance metrics).
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Power BI is an asset.
  • Familiarity with contractor management and service coordination.
  • Strong time management and task prioritization abilities; capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Construction of stage one of the Valley Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) will connect Mill Woods to downtown Edmonton with about 13.1 km of light rail transit. This stage includes 11 stops, an elevated station incorporating a transit centre and Park & Ride, and a transfer point to the existing LRT routes at Churchill Square.

The Valley Line Southeast is different from the current high-floor LRT system that Edmonton operates. The Valley Line Southeast features new, low-floor, urban-styled trains that will provide more pedestrian-friendly access with at street level stops. And, in residential and commercial areas, embedded tracks will be integrated to the established design and traffic flow of the area.

Pre-construction work began in March 2016 and stage one of the City of Edmonton's Valley Line LRT is expected to be operational in 2023.
