Position Summary:
Neelands is actively seeking a full-time highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to support our payroll operations. This position will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of payroll for all Canadian and U.S. employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong numerical aptitude and be committed to maintaining accurate financial records and compliance with payroll regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Assist in the accurate and timely processing of weekly payrolls, including data entry, timekeeping verification, wage calculation and deductions for both hourly and salary employees.
  • Compliance: Support the team in ensuring compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local tax regulations as well as company policies.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Assist with reconciling payroll discrepancies and generating various payroll reports for management and audit purposes (e.g., month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reports).
  • Employee Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding pay, tax deductions, and other payroll issues by providing timely and professional responses.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with general administrative tasks within the payroll and finance department as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience processing North America (Canada and U.S.) payroll.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and formulas) and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with payroll and ERP software (e.g., Dayforce and Acumatica or similar platforms).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or currently working towards.
  • Previous experience with union payroll and dues remittance would be an asset.
  • Prior use of Dayforce and/or Acumatica is beneficial.
