Role WHAT YOU’LL DO:

We are looking for a Thermal Mechanical Engineer to support the innovative design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) for our direct liquid cooling systems. This role involves contributing to all stages of the product design lifecycle, from concept through to testing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, proficiency in CAD and simulation tools, and excellent communication skills, with a focus on continuously improving product performance and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), considering factors like how heat moves, fluid flow, sensor placement, cable organization, and how easy they are to manufacture.
  • Work closely with core teams, customers, and industry partners to ensure our CDUs fit well into the overall cooling system designs and that projects run smoothly.
  • Continuously look for ways to make our CDU designs better, improve how they're made, and choose better materials to make them more efficient and reliable.
  • Oversee the building and testing of CDU prototypes, run experiments, collect data, and refine designs based on the results to achieve the desired thermal and mechanical performance.
  • Create detailed engineering documents, reports, and presentations to clearly explain design ideas, test results, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Use advanced computer simulations to check and improve the performance of our CDU designs.

Who You Are Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in thermal or mechanical design engineering.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to create detailed mechanical designs & drawings.
  • Proven understanding of designing components for mass production using various manufacturing methods (e.g., sheet metal, machining, welded assemblies, casting, and injection molding).
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to the design release process (e.g., GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis).
  • Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for detailed mechanical designs & drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of fluid dynamics principles, especially as they relate to heat transfer and fluid flow in cooling systems (Preferred).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping manufacturing techniques and testing of thermal/mechanical components; familiarity with lab equipment for data collection (Preferred).
  • Experience with hose and cable routing in a 3D CAD environment (Preferred).
