Job Summary: Creates and maintains all CAD data relative to a program as specified by the Project Engineer and/or Customer with Supervision

Required Qualifications:

  • Tool and Die Maker
  • Training in CAD system (experience is an asset)
  • Knowledge of Surfacing, Solid Modelling and Simulation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Jobbing shop experience in automotive is an asset
  • High School diploma
  • Computer proficiency of Microsoft Office and Windows Outlook
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to problem solve effectively
  • Good math skills
  • Mechanically inclined

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains design files, both 2D and 3D, based on internal and external customer requirements
  • Assists with advanced design proposals based on direction from product design engineering, engineering analysis, and customer supplied GD&T
  • Recommend alternative design scenarios to meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Design tooling and CAD data to suit Martinrea and Customer's standards in order to produce quality parts
  • Extract information from design drawing and provide dimensions for details shown
  • Interfaces with Project Engineering, Manufacturing Division and Customer to meet requirements for assigned project
  • Travel to meet customer
  • All other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned as deemed necessary by Supervisor

Employee Relations

  • Communicate effectively with employees and management staff

  • Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor

  • Comply, ensure and enforce Rules of Conduct (Sign off agreement) in your hire package

  • Provide and/or participate in training as required

  • Comply, ensure and enforce all company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the

  • Employee Handbook

  • Comply, ensure and enforce the Employee Standards Act, 2000

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the "Duties of Workers" as stated in section 28
  • Must comply with Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures according to Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Must use/wear equipment, personal protective equipment or certain clothing as required by the company
  • Comply with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)
  • Comply with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Beware of moving lift trucks at all times
  • All employees are prohibited from working under dies which are suspended from hoists, cranes or forklifts
