About the role**.**

The position is a 1-year, full-time, hourly, contract role for a Food Service Assistant, reporting to the Cafeteria & Banquet Lead. The role involves working independently as part of a team to maintain cleanliness, tidiness, safety, and presentability of all kitchen facilities, and promptly reporting any safety or hygiene concerns.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Determine food inventory needs, stocking and ordering.
  • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing and preparing sauces.
  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, to specified recipes and standards.
  • Ensure the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
  • Other related duties as may be required.

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • Minimum high school education
  • Experience of kitchen equipment and dangerous equipment such as knives.
  • Required to obtain WHMIS certification.
  • Previous Food and Banquet experience.
  • Ability to work independently and produce high-quality food.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good oral communication and team player.
  • Positive and approachable manner.
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
  • High standards for food safety and cleanliness.

Compensation Package*:* $20.15 - $ 21.34**CAD hourly

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
