PRIMARY PREP****COVERAGE TEACHER (PHYSICAL EDUCATION)

Part-time (0.4 FTE) position

Chartwell Elementary School

Effective September 2, 2025 until June 30, 2026

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A 2 day per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) teaching position is available assisting in prep coverage in primary PHE classes. The successful candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate evidence of the following:

  • Current knowledge and recent successful experience teaching Physical and Health Education at the primary level.

  • A strong understanding of the physical, social, and emotional development of children in Kindergarten to Grade 4.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate physical education lessons that promote physical literacy, cooperation, and a lifelong love of movement.

  • Ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages risk-taking, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

  • Knowledge of BC's Physical and Health Education curriculum, including strategies for integrating social-emotional learning and Indigenous perspectives.

  • Experience supporting diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with exceptional needs, within a physical education setting.

  • Hold a valid BC professional teaching certificate.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and a proven ability to work effectively with classroom teachers and support staff.

  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to engaging with families and the school community.

  • A commitment to the school's core values of Mindfulness, Resilience, and Kindness and the ability to model these values through physical education programming.
