About the role

As an Electrical Wire Harness Assembler, you will be responsible for building electrical wire harnesses, which are bundles of wires, cables, and connectors that are used to transmit electrical signals and power to various components in our heavy equipment machines. To be successful in this role, you will be required to read and understand wiring diagrams and engineering drawings; have a mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail and good eye-hand coordination.

Location: 40 Consolidated Drive, Paris, ON

Dedicated Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday

Job Duties

  • Read and thoroughly understand detailed electrical wiring diagrams and work instructions, cross referencing parts lists to ensure meticulous assembly.
  • Utilize a routing board to lay out and organize wires and ensure they are in the correct position for crimping and connecting.
  • Install, mount, fasten, align and adjust parts, components, and wiring.
  • Route, crimp, and solder wires, as well as assemble and install other components.
  • Complete numerous hand assembly operations with the use of hand and small power tools, crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers.
  • Inspect electronic components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection and placement, wiring and crimping quality and proper pin insertions
  • When instructed or required complete repairs on damaged harnesses.

Skills and Experience

  • Attention to detail, excellent hand dexterity
  • Proficient in basic math skills
  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members.
  • Physical requirements include standing, lifting, as well as push/pull motion
  • Ability to distinguish coloured wires for accurate assembly purposes

Qualifications

  • Education in areas such as electrical or electro-mechanical technology is an asset.
  • Vocational training in electronics, mechanical drawings, science, mathematics, and computer technology is also considered an asset.
  • Understanding of electrical principles and components.
  • Mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Able to interpret electrical drawings and read schematics.
